OPEN HOUSE and KINDERGARTEN

Welcome to Mrs. Pendleton's class!!
Indian Springs Elementary's Open House for Kindergarten will be Thursday, July 30th at 5:00. We will begin with a grade level meeting in the cafeteria then disperse to the individual K classrooms. This is a great time to bring in school supplies and become familiar with the classroom and school. I am looking forward to meeting all the children and parents.
Please remember that your child will only attend school one day that first week of school. This is called staggered enrollment. It is a time for the students to become familiar with the school and rules in a smaller group (4-5 students). No K children attend that first Monday, 8/3. Then your child will attend a full school day (8:10-3:15) one of the following days:
Tuesday, 8/4- Group 1
Wednesday, 8/5-Group 2
Thursday, 8/6- Group 3
Friday, 8/7-Group 4
Then all K students will begin a regular schedule Monday, August 10.

Kindergarten Graduation 2015

May 19, 2015
This was our first Kindergarten Graduation at ISE. And it was a huge success!  We need to send a special thank you to Mr. Cox, who allowed us to have this celebration, and Mr. Hefner, who put a lot of hard work and planning into making it all happen. Each kindergartener was asked to dress like what he/she wanted to be as a grown-up. Graduation pictures were displayed with each child pictured in a graduation cap and gown (thanks to Ashley Arnold). The students also sang precious songs about their first year at school. We are blessed and it shows!

We are the Lorax, we speak for the trees!

Our class loved the story "The Lorax," by Dr. Seuss. They loved learning about the significance of the story and how important it is to take care of our planet. As part of our lesson, we made Lorax mustaches and snacked on truffula trees- yummy!
We "mustache" you to help take care of our planet!

MARCH= fun times with Dr. Seuss rhymes

We have been reading Dr. Seuss books and enjoying fun activities centered on his stories. Here is today's adventure- crazy sock day!  We read "Fox in Socks", completed the graph about wearing crazy socks, designed a crazy sock, brainstormed rhyming words, and tallied, counted, and graphed the different kinds of socks.
We participated a taste testing activity after reading "Green Eggs and Ham."  Mrs. Arnold fixed real green eggs and ham. I was thrilled with the amount of kids who tried them and liked them (just like Sam). Before reading the story, each student predicted whether or not they would like this snack. After tasting it, they completed a class graph. We also labeled Sam, the main character from our story.
Of course we celebrated Wednesday with "Wacky Wednesday."  This story talked about all the wacky things that happened on one Wednesday. We dressed wacky for the day!  We also completed an anchor chart by brainstorming all the wacky things that happened in the story.
We have noticed that Dr. Seuss really liked rhyming words.  Today we talked about words families that were in some of our stories and completed an anchor chart.
